Never Half-Ass Two Things Lettered Quote

Hand Letter Study

I recently took a class from Chris Piascik on llustrative Lettering. Hand lettering is some of the earliest forms of illustration I got into when I tried to pick drawing and illustration back up. I’ve spent a lot of time since then thinking I didn’t really have my own style. And yet while I love Chris’ saturday morning cartoon style, when I finally drafted up my final peice for the class, I ended up going in a completely different direction. I’m fully embracing my love of texture right now.

Whole Ass One Thing

I did keep some pop-art threads in this peice. I took some of Chris’ techniques on 3d and script style hand-lettering and applied it to my favorite Parks and Rec quote. It’s not always advice I follow but one that I often try to keep in mind.

Getting a little peachy.

Takin a cue from the lesson on adding fun little details I decided to add a little bit of a peachy element to this quote. It just seemed right for some reason From there I decided to go for a spring-time picnic element. A little soft, a little sass.
